MODERN VINTAGE
LEURA, BLUE MOUNTAINS
Against the Grain were engaged to rectify an existing, substandard extension on this 100 year old period cottage in the village of Leura. The outcome is a contemporary, energy efficient, and open plan space entirely sympathetic to the existing heritage home. Comprising kitchen, living space, two bathrooms and laundry amenities, the extension is flooded with light from custom Against the Grain windows & doors, and features white stringybark floors.
Anchoring the space is a striking black and white stringybark timber kitchen, the result of a rewarding collaboration to realise the client’s vision. In addition, Against the Grain crafted double-glazed windows to match the existing heritage profiles at the front of the property and reroofed the entire house.
